The PSA (Public Servants Association of South Africa) is a registered trade union at the forefront of labour developments.

The PSA is the largest, politically non-affiliated, fully-representative union in the Public Service. With a proud history of more than a century of service to its members, the PSA represents more than 245 000 public-sector employees.

VISION

Be the leading politically non-aligned, professional trade union of choice, in the public sector and globally.

MISSION

Ensure the sustainability of the PSA through dynamic stakeholder management to protect the rights and to promote the interest of members.

The Story of the Union with a Soul

In 2007, the PSA’s Board of Directors and management approved social responsibility as a core objective for the Union in developing and support its members as well as their communities. From these humble beginnings, the various initiatives have made an enormous impact in the lives of those who are faced with the challenge of surviving. From providing jerseys and school equipment to thousands of underprivileged children to funding a dancing wheelchair to fulfill the dreams of a young talented person, the Union has brought hope and relief to many South Africans. This book reflects a decade of stories from the PSA’s corporate social investments.

CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT

The Limpopo office distributed essential food parcels, alleviating immediate food insecurity, supporting vulnerable households, and reinforcing the PSA’s commitment to responsive, community-centred intervention during crisis situations.

The PSA Provincial Office in Mpumalanga supported Barberton Youngsters FC, a youth soccer team dedicated to community upliftment and protecting young people from social ills.

The Provincial Office in Mpumalanga, together with the PSA Pensioners’ Branch, handed a donation to Verulam Day Care Centre in support of promoting the well-being of children from underprivileged backgrounds.

The PSA Provincial Office in North West supported Seraleng Clinic with the installation of a water storage tank, as part of the Union’s continued commitment to assisting clinics across South Africa.

PSA Provincial Offices in Limpopo and in the Eastern Cape: Gqeberha assisted clinics with renovations in an ongoing commitment by the PSA to support and enhance healthcare facilities.

The PSA Provincial Office in Durban assisted Gobhogobho Primary School with a school painting initiative, undertaken as part of the Union's ongoing support for communities.

The PSA celebrated Arbor Week by planting trees across South Africa with support from Provincial Offices

The PSA Provincial Office in Limpopo donated rechargeable solar lights to assist learners of OR Tambo Comprehensive School

The PSA continues to change lives and donated soccer kits, balls, and medals to future soccer stars in Segopje, Limpopo.

The PSA’s Business Administration section reached out to Vanani Farm School and Mzamowethu Public School in the Eastern Cape as part of the Union’s #SchoolSafety program to donate school uniforms to learners.
