Trees were planted at schools, government departments, municipal grounds, and care centres. The project was undertaken in cooperation with Save our Planet, and supported by PSA business partners, Assupol and PSG.
The project started in Gauteng at the Pretoria School for Cerebral Palsy, where the excited learners were also treated with a GEMS water bottle and a cupcake. Plantings in Pretoria continued at Alma, Nantes and Pretoria Schools and ended at the ODI Hospital in Mabopane. The Johannesburg team planted trees at schools in Lenasia, Tshepisong and Diepkloof. The Free State Provincial Office planted trees in Botshabelo, Bloemfontein and Qwa-Qwa. The KwaZulu-Natal teams planted 100 trees scattered across the province at clinics, hospitals, SAPS stations and Correctional facilities.
Trees are a vital part of the planet’s ecosystem, and if cared for, will still be growing for the next 100 years, becoming beacons celebrating the legacy of a responsible Union, and enjoyed by future generations.
