The PSA has more than 205 000 members, who are being served by twelve Provincial Offices. Members are organised in Departmental Branches in all National State departments.

Sectoral Branches of the PSA have also been established as well as Group Branches for employees at semi-state institutions and Public Service pensioners.

The PSA's impressive success rate in resolving cases can, to a large extent, also be ascribed to the fact that it has competent, highly qualified and well-trained, full-time staff supported by more than 5 000 trained shop stewards dealing with member issues.

The fact that the PSA is admitted to the various bargaining councils enables it to resolve most workplace problems within these councils with huge savings in cost and time.
